SMSes are stolen   Home

A webmaster was suspicious that the SMSes and phone calls sent to particular mobile number were being diverted. To test if the SMSes were being diverted or stolen, the mobile number was used to sign up for get paid to receive SMS websites. However, even a week after signing up, not even a single get paid to receive SMS was delivered to the mobile number provided. This clearly indicated that SMSes were being stolen, diverted or deleted.

There are two possibilities where the SMSes could be tampered with. The tampering could happen at the BSNL SMS server level, where SMSes for select numbers are being diverted. The other reason could be that all the SMSes are being diverted to another number for identity theft purposes, and the person using that number is then diverting, deleting or stealing the SMS. There is little transparency, it is difficult to find out what is going on.
